The Embassy of Japan invited Mrs. Machiko Nakayama, a Japanese traditional flower arrangement (Ikebana) performer, to Dili as part of commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between Timor-Leste and Japan. This invitation program was co-hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Timor-Leste and the Japan Foundation. Mrs. Nakayama made a presentation and a flower arrangement demonstration at the Embassy on December 3.
At the Multipurpose Hall of the Embassy Ms. Nakayama made a lecture based on her experience and analysis on natural beauty in Timor-Leste and showed the audience Ikebana by making use of local flowers and plants.
She also arranged vases of flowers for the lecture and demonstration and opened the exhibition entitled “Legend of the Sea and Mountains of Timor-Leste". Her works were also exhibited at Hotel Timor on the occasion of the reception celebrating the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan in the evening.
Besides, she visited churches in Dili and Bazartete and introduced the Japanese traditional flower arrangement and showed a short demonstration to the participants.
