Title: My life in Japan (JDS Scholarship: Armando Noronha Da Silva)
To begin with, I would like to introduce myself. My Name is Armando Noronha da Silva, from Bobonaro municipality. I work at General Directorate of Migration Service, Ministry of Interior of Timor-Leste.
Currently I am participating in a JICA’s Scholarship Program called The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS), pursuing my Master's degree in Global Studies at Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan. I am in the second batch from JDS program year 2020-2022.My Research title of Master's course is “Revisiting the Ethics Training Program for the Civil Servants and the National Police at the General Directorate of Migration Service in the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste". I am interested in this area of research because I really wanted to contribute in improving immigration services by developing adequate training for the staff.
Furthermore, I am proud of and happy to become one of the JDS Scholarship Student, because I am able to develop and enhance my knowledge towards several aspects related to my area of study and learn a lot from professors during the class. On the other hand, I am also able to learn Japanese culture and language, as well as their advance technology, infrastructure, and socio-economy.
I would like to encourage all Timorese people and especially my civil servant colleagues to prepare yourself to apply for any of scholarship that is offered by Japan in Timor-Leste, so that you can come and study in Japan to gain more knowledge in the area related for the development of Timor-Leste.
Finally, personally, I would like to thank Japanese people, Embassy, and all the international agency of Japan in Timor-Leste who always provide supports, aid, assistance, help for development of Timor-Leste in various sectors. I hope that, in celebrating 20 years of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Timor-Leste, this diplomatic relation will gain more strengthen, and Japan will always support Timor-Leste for our prosperity, development, and strength . Our dream, that we expect to become true one day, is to see a smile on Timorese, to live in prosperous life in developed infrastructure with good health system and high quality education. Many jobs are available for young Timorese in many sectors which are important to Timorese people. I believe those dreams we can achieve if Japan is serious in supporting Timor-Leste because Timor-Leste is only a small island country with only 1.3 million people, which is a size of one prefecture in Japan.
