Hi everyone! My name is Diva da Silva and currently a Master student at Nagoya University. My specialized area is International Development focusing on Education. Recently I am a M1 (1st year Master student) and my research focus on teacher training narrowed in In-service education training for public-school teachers. One of my biggest concerns about Education in Timor-Leste is to be improved and has better quality and that I believe teacher is one of essential aspects in contributing to its improvement. One of the priority program for Basic Education Reform stated in National Education Strategic Plan of Timor-Leste is ensuring quality of education and increasing the capacity of teaching force for both pre-service and in-service training. During my studies, I have learnt a lot from those professors who are rich in knowledge and have a lot of experience working in education field both inside and outside Japan.

Many of us agree that Japan is one of the amazing countries in the world so I applied through MEXT scholarship and now here I am in Japan, having the best experience in life. Education quality in Japan is way advanced and it’s such a good opportunity for me as an international student who came from a developing country to learn from professors, supervisor as well as other international students; and share similarities and differences that we have. Not only earning a degree, Japan also offers a chance to experience their culture, taste their food (not only Sushi), make friends with Japanese and international students, and take photos in four seasons. For those who wish to experience life outside your home country, Japan is one of your choices. It will enrich you with knowledge and amaze you with what they have!
