Port Call to Dili by Japan Maritime Self-Defense Ship ”JS FUYUZUKI”

1 Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Ship “JS FUYUZUKI” made a port call to Dili from 26 to 28 September 2016. “JS FUYUZUKI” visited Dili, Timor-Leste on the way back to Japan after participating in Exercise KAKADU 2016, Australian-hosted multinational maritime exercise, held from 12 to 24 September in Darwin.
2 Port call to Dili by “JS FUYUZUKI” is one of Japan - Timor-Leste Defense Cooperation, agreed by both Defense Ministers during the visit of Mr. Gen Nakatani, then Minister of Defense of Japan, to Timor-Leste in June this year. This is the first port call made by Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Ship to Timor-Leste as a friendship visit.
3 During the port call, there were some events, such as courtesy calls on Minister of Defense and Chief of Defense Force of F-FDTL by Commander Kuniaki ORITO, the Commanding officer of “JS FUYUZUKI”, site visit to Hera naval base, public ship tour, reception on board, sports exchange among officers from “JS FUYUZUKI and F-FDTL.
