The Graduation Ceremony of Auto-Mechanics Training Course was held at the Dili Institute of Technology (DIT) was held on Oct. 28, 2011.
This training course was designed to provide Timorese students with fundamental skills in auto-mechanics fully in compliance with the Japanese standards. This course was funded by the Government of Japan with a grant of 452,774 US Dollars and implemented by a Japanese NGO, JDRAC, through the project “Auto-mechanic training project in Timor-Leste”. This training course started in March this year and completed in October. The overarching objective of this project is to improve human resources in Timor-Leste. The graduates of this course have gained substantial knowledge to repair cars and to conduct preventive check-ups. They are expected to contribute to achieving a society with improved traffic safety by virtue of their skills to repair cars and prevent mechanical problems that can lead to traffic accidents.
In this ceremony Mr. Satoshi Nakajima, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Japan, expressed his heartfelt congratulation to the 30 graduates who have successfully completed their training and wished them a great success by all the graduates in their professional careers.
Mr. Mikio Noda, the representative of JDRAC in Timor-Leste, encouraged all the participants to pay attention to three important things to be successful as an auto-mechanic in the future, that is, never to forget their original motive, never to give up, and to treasure fellowship.
Mr. Estanislau Saldanha, Rector of the Dili Institute of Technology expressed in his remark his appreciation to the Government and the people of Japan for the assistance given through this auto-mechanics training.
